Dear Family Member:
We trust that the heartfelt testimonies of our counselors last month touched your life profoundly, just as they did for one of our own. Her spirit was deeply stirred, and she was overcome with tears of joy! This life-changing encounter inspired her to take out a life insurance policy in support of DAP, helping to provide vital funding. It’s a sobering reality that many of the broken men who come to us are unable to pay for our services. Yet, for 38 years, we’ve stood firm in our commitment to never turn a soul away due to financial constraints. By faith, we’ve witnessed God’s miraculous provision for DAP and these precious lives.
We were also blessed last month with a generous gift of $5600 from the life insurance policy of a gentleman from Riverside, CA. What’s remarkable is that, during his lifetime, this man never donated to DAP, nor did he show interest in our work or attend any of our events. He wasn’t even on our mailing list! It’s a powerful reminder that God’s ways are higher than ours, and He often provides for us in unexpected, yet miraculous ways. We’re deeply grateful for this selfless gentleman who embodied God’s love ‘with skin on it.’ Meet our clients:

As a 40-year-old aspiring musician from New York, I was raised in a Seventh-Day Adventist home by my mother and grandmother. In my 20s, I started drinking alcohol, which escalated into a daily destructive habit. The passing of my mother in November 2024 and my grandmother in February 2025 left me feeling lost and consumed by guilt, grief, hurt, and anger. After my mother’s death, I struggled to find motivation and resorted to alcohol as a coping mechanism. However, God had a plan to rescue me before my alcohol dependency began. Cliff and Freddie Harris, leaders of DAP, were instrumental in my transformation. This ministry has been transformative, addressing physical and spiritual needs. I was introduced to DAP through a pastor and friend, and I am grateful for the experience. While I still have progress to make, I am excited and hopeful about my future. I would like to thank Melodi Hamilton, office manager, for her encouragement and confirmation of God’s guidance in this program.

I am Cameron Lee Anthony, aged 34, from Bremerton, WA. As a single parent to an 11-year-old son, I have encountered substantial obstacles. A former graduate of DAP introduced me to the program, which I joined in pursuit of a more meaningful life centered on the principles of Jesus Christ. My prolonged struggle with alcohol addiction had severely impacted my life, rendering it unmanageable. Since arriving at DAP, I have discovered a new life and am eternally grateful to Harris’s and the DAP family for their unwavering support. With Christ in my life, my future appears bright, and I look forward to the plan He has chosen for me.

My name is Michael Kapusta, and I am a 48-year-old from Southern California. I entered DAP in August 2023, following a lifetime of battling alcoholism. Upon recognizing I had reached a breaking point, I sought guidance from my pastor at Loma Linda Campus Hill Church, who recommended DAP. Despite struggling initially and experiencing relapse, I was reaccepted and have begun tackling the fundamental issues underlying my addiction. Through God’s grace and mercy, I have acquired a deeper comprehension of my purpose within His plan. I am enthusiastic about the opportunities that lie ahead.

I am Kendrick Mobley, a 58-year-old resident of St. Louis, MO, fortunate to be married to a woman of exceptional character who is not only my spouse but also my best friend and lifelong companion. I was introduced to DAP through Toni, a member of our church and cousin of Mr. Harris. This marks my second enrollment in DAP, having previously completed Phase V in 2015. Unfortunately, upon my return home prior to graduation, I succumbed to cocaine use, mirroring the proverbial dog returning to its vomit. Upon my return last month, reflecting on the past decade led me to realize that the true essence of my journey lies not in completing Phase V or the program itself, but in cultivating an intimate, ongoing relationship with Jesus. This entails dedicating myself to studying His Word, honoring the Sabbath, and adhering to His Law perpetually. I find solace in 2 Corinthians 4:3–9, which reminds us of that despite being hedged in, troubled, and oppressed, we are not crushed, and though perplexed, we are not driven to despair.

Moturi, a 35-year-old Canadian citizen, raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Through a pastor, I discovered DAP. Having previously struggled with alcohol after leaving the church in my 20s, I joined DAP in July 2024. In January, while renewing my immigration papers in Canada, I experienced a setback, which served as a wake-up call, revealing the severity of my addiction. Participating in individual and group therapy sessions has enabled me to confront my issues and heal. I extend my gratitude to DAP and its directors, Cliff and Freddie Harris, for their warmhere, akin to a family, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing God. DAP has significantly impacted my journey with Christ and my recovery.

Robert Reid, Jr. is my name, and I am a 47-year-old divorced individual without children, hailing from New Jersey. Following graduate school, I returned to New Jersey in 2003 to pursue a career in my field but unfortunately discovered “China white” heroin, initiating a downward spiral. In the summer of 2003, I joined the Drug Alternative Program in Grand Terrace, CA, with optimism about receiving the necessary support. Although I completed the program in 2005, I soon relapsed. At 26 years old, within a year of graduating from the program, I regressed and returned to New Jersey to live with my parents. Acknowledging the need for help, I explored alternative rehabilitation programs, but none proved effective. After 20 years of struggling with addiction, I reconnected with DAP, which graciously allowed me to re-enter the program in 2019. Despite encountering multiple setbacks, my journey continues. Today, I am proud to be clean, sober, and alive, with a vital message: the use of drugs can rapidly lead to a loss of control, regardless of one’s background.
Ronald Stiggers here, a 72-year-old from Lanett, AL. I’m divorced with one daughter and three grandchildren. I learned about DAP through Dr. Samuel Harden, a family acquaintance. My addiction to crack cocaine has had devastating consequences. As a multi-skilled tradesman, I was privileged to contribute to DAP’s growth. After graduating in 1996, I’ve relapsed three times in 29 years. The guilt and pain of losing loved ones and possessions are overwhelming. What’s different this time? I’ve surrendered to God’s will, and DAP is helping me build a personal relationship with Him. This time, I’ll carry my faith beyond the program to maintain sobriety, live a Christian life, and share my story to support others struggling with addiction.
Family member, the needs of DAP are immense, and we are eternally grateful for your unwavering love and financial support throughout the years. Your selflessness is a testament to God’s goodness and we pray that He continues to bless you abundantly. As “Abraham and Sarah” in the Bible 😀, though we may be advancing in age, our commitment to this mission remains unwavering and we are resolute in our pursuit of this passion that brings us salvation.
Guess what! The DAP family is eagerly anticipating our heavenly reunion at the Tree of Life, where we will gather at the Welcome Table and behold the radiant presence of Jesus, who will personally serve us. Glory Hallelujah! Will you join us on this extraordinary journey?
