Dear Family Member:
We are excited to see how God is leading us in acquiring the land surrounding the Recovery Home. He knows our desire to work for souls in our community to enhance His work here in Huntsville, AL.
As we said before, our plans for moving to Alabama did not include opening another Recovery Home. We planned to semi-retire and work with small groups sharing our 35 years’ experience with drug dependents and codependents who need help. To our surprise, that was not God’s plan. He has made it ‘crystal clear’ to move forward with His plans to expand DAP on the land surrounding the Recovery Home. The above picture shows the land. The small green square in the middle is our present Recovery Home. Memorial Parkway is to the left and Meridian Street is the location of the property. As obedient leaders, we are moving forward in faith knowing what a huge project this is. However, it’s God’s, not ours. We are just His managers.
We have been communicating with the owners about acquiring the land since last November. This whole process is a miracle within itself. In January, we flew to Denver, CO to meet Janie Barnett and her daughter, Gwen Rush. After a lovely brunch prepared by Gwen, we sat down to discuss the land. We all agreed that it is God’s plan to use this land to expand His work. It will not only serve the community but provide housing and industries to help the clients and graduates of the program. Janie and Gwen want us to have the land and will give us first preference.
This is your opportunity to help raise funds to begin Phase I of this project – acquiring the land. Next, we envision building a second Recovery Home for the clients and a Transition Home for the graduates. Cliff has already started contacting local businesses and construction companies to donate their time, workers, equipment, and supplies for the development of these properties on the land. Their responses have been phenomenal! Companies like Lowe’s Home Improvement and Across the Pond Landscaping Supply Store have already donated materials (blocks, rocks, dirt, etc.) for the Recovery Home lawn and Richard’s Lighting has donated ceiling fans and lights for decorating inside the home.
Becoming a “Land Partner” for this special project is one of the best decisions you can make. Money is sent to countries around the world for mission projects. But guess what? Here at DAP, you can see where your money goes and who is being helped. You can see and meet the men whose lives are being changed. In other words, DAP is “where the rubber meets the road,” and we need you like never before to help purchase this land to expand the ministry of DAP.
We realize the enormity of this project. At the same time, we know how God has led us in the past -bringing our visions into reality. We are honored as “Abraham and Sarah” (up in age 🙂 to start this expansion of DAP. We are praying and fasting, spending more time in the Word, listening closely to the Holy Spirit, and asking God not to let us go ahead of Him or in any way to divert from His plans.
Won’t you pray and ask God what resources He wants you to give in exchange for advancing His work of bringing more souls into His kingdom ‘for such a time as this?’ Thank you in advance and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
