Dear Family Member:
Cliff made a special trip to California in November to reconnect with his DAP ‘sons’, who are also alumni. They wished to spend quality time with their DAP ‘dad’ and strengthen their bond. Cliff was overjoyed to see these outstanding graduates, who have remained committed to Jesus and lead productive lives after more than 20 years of sobriety. Cliff’s dedication and sacrifice have been instrumental in transforming these cherished individuals for Christ. Unfortunately, space only permits us to share brief stories about each of these exceptional men.
Rick Monreal has been employed at Riverside Highland Water Company in Grand Terrace for 25 years, a position Cliff recommended after he graduated from the program. He has been a homeowner for 15 years, residing in his San Bernardino home. He remarried in 2023 to his wife Sandra and they both enjoy their home together.
Willie Ashley is currently employed by Party Plus, where he has accumulated 30 years of experience, in addition to his other professional endeavors. Willie remarried in 2021 and resides in Apple Valley with his wife Lucille where they own their own home.
Wayne Dooley was the Program Director for DAP for a three-year period. Upon retiring as a contractor, he has remained occupied as a handyman at his church. He and his wife Renee have been married for 30 years and currently reside in their home in Riverside.
Tracy Wise had a three-year tenure as the owner of his own landscaping business before joining the Southeastern CA Conference of Seventh Day Adventist as the groundskeeper. He is currently enrolled in college, pursuing a certificate in alcohol and drug counseling, inspired by the assistance he received from DAP. As nine-year homeowners in Beaumont, Tracy and Aisha have been married for 10 years and he is the father of her two daughters, who attend high school and college.
Upon joining DAP, Humberto Harrison was employed as a barber and is still regarded as one of the finest barbers in Southern California. He has been married to his wife Lessie for 22 years, and they live in their home in Moreno Valley.
Robert Hassler spent three years working as a lawn supervisor for DAP. He still drives the truck that was given to him when the program relocated to Alabama. He is divorced and currently holds the position of traffic control technician at SoCal Elite Traffic Company. Robert Hassler resides in Beaumont, near Tracy and his family.
We have seen nearly 100 men graduate from this 12-18-month program, with a remarkable 50% plus achieving long-term sobriety and living productive lives. In contrast, the national average for long-term sobriety stands at 15%. We take great pride in the accomplishments of Rick, Willie, Wayne, Humberto, Tracy, and Robert, who have enjoyed meaningful years of success.
These graduates were unable to afford their program. However, your love gifts have enabled their life transformation. As a result, they are now helping others discover Christ and share His love with the world.
Your generosity in contributing to this facet of God’s work is truly appreciated. The profound difference you’ve made in the lives of many will only be fully understood when you enter the kingdom. In heaven, you will be approached by someone who will thank you, saying, “Hi, I’m a member of God’s family because of your kindness. Let me introduce you to the rest of my family who are here due to your compassion.” What a glorious day of rejoicing that will be! As the prolific writer, Ellen G. White, so eloquently put it, we will exclaim, “Heaven is cheap enough!” We can’t wait!
