On Sabbath after listening to an inspiring message from our pastor, Dr. Carlton Byrd, and enjoying our tasty lunch, we the DAP family, drove to Tent City, the site where many homeless people live here in Huntsville, AL. Our truck was loaded with bags of groceries that we distributed to them. We also handed each one a brochure about our ministry. The Scott’s, overseers of Tent City, needed gas for their propane tank. Two of the guys went and bought gas for their two containers. They were so happy!
We asked Mr. Scott what they needed and he said large plastic containers to store clothes and hygiene’s, brooms, rakes and large garbage bags to help them clean up the area. DAP plans to take a day off work, take our trucks and help them remove the trash and debris from the site.
As you can see by the pictures, it’s a big job. If you would like to donate funds to help purchase the above items, please call or text us at 951-544-1307. Your donations are tax-deductible and we will send you a receipt.
Activities like this teach the men how to care for the less fortunate and at the same time, count their blessings. They are reminded how God pulled them out of the ‘muck and mire’ of sin and to reach back and help the less fortunate. They were thankful for the experience of showing acts of kindness especially to those who cannot return the favor.
Jesus says, ….., ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ Matthew 25:40
