Our guest speaker for Vesper’s was Joel Nuthalapati. He’s married to Ashley Deshay and they have a four year-old daughter.
The men have gotten to know Joel at the Oakwood University Church where he serves as Elder and Facility Manager. He has embraced them as his friends and spends time with them while they work at the church. Being a native from India, he has fixed authentic dishes for them to enjoy. They love Joel as their brother.
Joel’s message was entitled, “Christ’s Wife or Satan’s Girlfriend – Who are You? There are two faces of the church. At church, we act like Christ’s wife. When we leave the church, we act like Satan’s girlfriend. Despite our duplicity, God still loves us. We were encouraged to go back to our first love.
Through the story of Hosea and Gomer,
he reminded us about the consequences of choice, the power of forgiveness, and the importance of virtue.
In summary, Joel let us know that it is time to be loyal to God. He is jealous when we mess around with Satan. To Him, one soul is worth more than the whole world, more valuable than all the earth. One soul is of infinite value to God. We are that one soul.
We were so inspired as Joel shared scripture after scripture emphasizing how much we should not abandon but go back to our first love, Jesus Christ.
