Our guest speaker tonight was
Alton Conwell, joined by his wife, Patti. Al is the Assistant Director, Student Accounts, at Oakwood University.
His theme text was 2 Timothy 1:7, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” He encouraged the men to develop these character traits with the help of God.
He then shared his personal testimony of his deliverance from drug addiction. After pleading with God for help to overcome his cocaine habit, He sent Patti into his life. Al experienced so much love and acceptance from her entire family. Instead of getting ‘high’, he chose to embrace this love for the rest of his life. After taking Bible studies and baptism , Al and Patti were married and the rest is history.
Everything we do should be a partnership with God. As a former basketball coach, Al gave the group a basketball analysis, “As long as there is time on the clock, you have time to change the outcome.”
The Bible text and personal testimony of Al gave these men hope for the future. Praise God👏🏼.
