Our guest speaker was Carter England joined by his wife Allison and children, Walter and Everett. Carter is the insurance agent for DAP and he loves and supports the work that we are doing. Allison is a nurse practitioner, working part-time in order to spend time raising the boys. Neither Carter or Allison has ever used drugs. They were raised in a Christian home by both parents.
Carter and Allison are both from Tennessee. They were attending separate events in California. As their custom, they chose to attend church that Sunday. After meeting each other for the first time , they made a date after returning home to Tennessee. The way they met and how their lives blended, they knew God had brought them together. And the rest is history😍.
Carter’s two key texts were Micah 6:8, “….And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God”. At the age of 13, after hearing a sermon using that text, he desired those character traits and after studying the Bible for himself, he decided to be baptized.
Carter emphasized to the guys that he chose Christian friends who kept him accountable. The decisions that he made at a young age shaped his life. His home training and Christian environment helped him make the right choices as an adult.
The second text was Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Eternal life is given not earned. It is a free gift from God.
The England’s testimony gave the men a view of what a family without drug addiction looks like . They were encouraged believing what God said, “…I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, Joel 2.25. They all look forward to having a healthy family.
