Dear Faithful Family Member:
May is a month of renewal, hope, and growth. We are happy to share with you the progress we have made with your generous contributions towards the development of the 10 acres of land that we recently purchased. We are still waiting for the proposal from Triad Properties Corporation for the development and construction of the Storage Units. Building and construction are at an all-time high in Alabama, which is causing consumers a much longer wait period than normal.
We are certain that this land expansion will help the community and have a positive impact on the lives of the clients and graduates of DAP providing training and jobs for the future.
We are grateful for the selfless and generous gifts that we have received from you, and we want to express our heartfelt thanks for your continued support. It is because of you that we are able to make a difference in the lives of men who are battling drug addiction.
Last month Lonny Shattuck and Drug Alternative Program were invited to Brayton Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tennessee as guests for the Divine Worship Service. Emil Castro gave the Invocation and Robert Reid read the Scripture. The “Heavenly Highs” (DAP clients) sang “He Lives” with joyful hearts!
Lonny and Steve Borchers shared their testimonies, emphasizing a merciful, forgiving, and powerful God that restores and recreates lives when one turns from their destructive addictions and selfishness and surrenders to God. Lonny briefly addressed the clients, encouraging them to continue letting God take control and do the heart work of surrendering daily.
The church members provided a delicious meal, and the fellowship was most enjoyable. What a lovely Sabbath at the Brayton Church. Please continue to pray for the DAP staff as we help men addicted to drugs and point them to our Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ.
In March, Freddie and Steve Borchers attended the Alabama Christian Recovery Ministries Group in Hueytown, AL. We are members of this Support Group that meets quarterly in different cities in Alabama. We had not attended these meetings in almost a year because of our busy schedules.
Wow, this one was indeed a divine appointment from God! Words are inadequate to express how much inspiration Steve and I received. We especially enjoyed hearing Pastor Mark Winslett, Senior Pastor at Heritage Christian Center in Hueytown, AL. His presentation (more like a sermon) was entitled, A Significant Shift, offering so many perspectives of Jesus which most do not consider. Pastor Mark also gave us copies of his book entitled, “Becoming a Threat to Addiction, how to eliminate relapse and live your best life.” We are reading it and sharing these gems with the men. We were so thankful to be a part of this meeting and elated that we did not miss out on this inspiring presentation.
The new facilities that we will be building will provide much-needed support to the men who participate in our program. We are excited about the new hope and encouragement that this land expansion will bring to the men and the community as a whole.
We ask that you continue to be generous with your contributions so that we can see the Master Plan through its completion. We also ask that you continue to pray for DAP and the men who are fighting this battle every day.
Once again, we thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to updating you on the progress that we are making. As always, we love and appreciate you so much!!!
