Dear Family Member:
As we begin a new year, DAP extends our warmest wishes to you. May this year be filled with joy, growth, and new opportunities. Together, may we embrace the possibilities that the future holds and continue to make an impact on the lives of those we serve.
The past year has brought unexpected challenges for DAP in constructing the storage units. The City of Huntsville Board of Zoning Adjustment re-zoned the 10-acre DAP property, requiring adjustments to our original plans. Prior to re-zoning, the blueprints for the storage units and parking areas were in line. We applied for a use variance to allow for a mini storage facility in the Highway Business C4 Zoning District. Although the Board of Zoning Adjustment approved only the construction of climate-controlled storage units, we are using this delay as an opportunity to continue fundraising and trusting in our mission. This will provide additional opportunities for family and friends to support us in reaching our $2.5 million goal for these units. We thank you in advance for your support and sacrifice.
Last month, we invited family members and new guests to a holiday luncheon at our community clubhouse. The food was excellent, and the company was great. Our contractor, Joe Williams of JW Williams Contracting Services, updated us on the status of the storage unit buildings, specifically the progress made in launching the project. We received several generous donations and pledges to help us reach our fundraising goal of $2.5 million. We appreciate your support in our endeavor to bring God’s vision to life. Based on our past experiences, we are confident that He will transform our vision of storage units, a community center, and two homes into a reality, allowing us to expand our ministry and rescue more individuals from the ravages of drug addiction. As we are all aware, the drug epidemic is a pervasive issue that affects people from all walks of life.
For Christmas, the men, as Santa’s helpers, passed out candy canes to the elementary school children at the Asbury School and the Oakwood Adventist Academy. It was fun for the kids and the guys enjoyed interacting with them. Cliff was the ‘life of the party’ for the kids.
Our ‘sons’ work hard and we like to do extra activities to show our appreciation to them. We took them to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Intuitive Planetarium to see the Bethlehem Christmas Program. It was an amazing experience and made us realize what a trendy city we live in.
As we close another year, we are one year closer to Christ’s return. We must work the works of Him while it is day; the night comes, when no man can work (John 9:4). This verse is incredibly important because it contains a strong admonition for every serious Christian. We all look forward to His soon return.
Warm Wishes,
