Dear Family Member:
If ever there was a year when DAP urgently needed your gift, it is this year – – 2020. Right now, like many of you, we find our finances stretched to the limit. One of the reasons is that it has been much more difficult for our clients to pay their fees every month.
Thankfully, back in 2016, we initiated a special challenge called “My Brother’s Keeper Scholarship Fund,” and we invited family members like you to make your year-end gift to this special fund.
The question, “Am I my brother’s keeper? “, is one that has been asked since God, in the first book of the Bible, Genesis, asked Cain the very poignant question, “Am I supposed to know where my brother is and how he is doing?” Ever since that day, God has resoundingly told his children that indeed, we are “keepers of one another.”
Spiritually, God wants us to live for others – not just ourselves. Christ tells us to “bear one another’s burdens and so we fulfill His law. “ Galatians 6:2
Here at DAP, our programs exemplify that we are our “brother’s keeper.” Every man that comes through these doors arrived with the same need. Every person needs to receive God’s healing. While the majority of our clients have little money to pay their way, no one is turned away because of a lack of funds. We care and you care because these are God’s children. And they are part of our family.
The current cost of the DAP program is $1,800 monthly. The men in the program don’t want a handout. And every one of them works to help pay at least 1/2 of the cost each month. Our work therapy program helps pay for food, shelter, clothing, medical insurance, and therapy. The balance of the $900 is paid by the family or raised by this ministry.
The Bible tells us to Ask, Seek, and Knock (Matthew 7:7) – We persevere in constant prayer asking, seeking, and knocking for help from God. We are encouraged to give you an opportunity to help with our needs as the man who goes to his neighbor in the middle of the night and says, “Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have no food to offer him. He eventually showed kindness to the man. (Luke 11:5-10)
These men of DAP are needful of “bread” to help change their lives. We believe our Heavenly Father is more ready to bestow blessings on every one that ask for them, than an indulgent parent is to give food to a hungry child. And this is the advantage of our prayer of faith which establishes our trust in God, and the work that we do.
In this economic crisis, we face the daunting challenges of raising funds for the clients. Therefore, “My Brother’s Keeper Scholarship Fund” has been set up for them. Our goal is $80,000 for 8 clients. We invite you to be a sponsor for the scholarships of these “brands plucked out of the fire”. Your support of $30, $225, $900 or whatever you can give would be a great vote of confidence in our mission.
This year we have shared with you the personal testimonies of clients like Emil Castro, our most recent graduate, Jacob Merchant, Allen Davis, Kalei Luii and Robert Reid. You see what your dollars are paying for – new creatures in Christ.
What better way to celebrate Christmas than by sharing what you have with our “Brother’s Keeper Scholarship Fund” to have a positive impact on these men and others that will follow?
With grateful hearts,
