Dear Family Member:
One of the biggest and most important holidays for flower delivery is Valentine’s Day. In fact, the flower company, About Flowers, estimates that more than 250 million roses are produced for Valentine’s Day each year.
Since lots of love is ‘in the air,” we decided to show our special love to one of our family members, Victor Jones, who has supported DAP since 1998. This gentleman has been our most consistent supporter, giving sometimes more than once a month to this ministry. We want you to hear his story to find out why. It has been only in the last two years that we have met and talked with him by phone. He remained anonymous all the other years. And this picture is the first one we have ever seen of him.
It thrills our hearts to be in direct contact with him. We wish there were 100 Victor Jones’s where there is only one. Listen to his testimony:
“I first became acquainted with DAP while attending the Altadena Seventh-day Adventist church some 20+ years ago. It was an afternoon program and for whatever reason, I felt compelled to go. I remember Cliff and the men as they came forth giving powerful testimonies on how broken they were at one time, but now they were on the road to recovery from the bondage of drug addiction. I was really impressed and convicted.
My brother was definitely caught up in the lifestyle of substance abuse, which made it difficult and frustrating for my mom and me at our home. I felt he was hopeless and I wanted him gone. But I learned a valuable lesson from the DAP presentation that Sabbath. “We serve a God that’s in the business of restoration.” The testimonies from the men were evidence of that fact, but I didn’t think that applied to my brother, Ed.
It took several years of incarceration, but afterwards, Ed met a Christian guy named Al, who ministered to him at the halfway house where he was living. Al helped my brother find Christ through Bible study. This eventually led him to accepting Christ into his heart. He was truly changed, and from that point on he found employment and started helping out at our home. It was fun, during the holidays, watching him lead out spiritually with the family.
DAP ‘s ministry resonates with me because I have seen how God’s love can change a person’s heart and restore in them what was broken. Cliff and Freddie are my spiritual heroes here on earth; the love, guidance, and dedication they demonstrate to the men at DAP are amazing.
I am motivated by the Holy Spirit to be a part of this amazing work. I’ve been blessed by just reading the monthly newsletters from DAP. God continues to move mountains and clear paths for His children that love Him; from the Transition homes in Grand Terrace, CA, to the land of Huntsville, AL.
I have witnessed God’s blessings towards this ministry time and time again, which reminds me of Ephesians 3:20, “Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” I am so thankful to be connected with the DAP family. May God continue to bless you guys at DAP.”
Wow, Cliff and I are always astonished and humbled at the lives touched by this ministry. When we look back over the years, gratitude fills our heart. We’re always reminded of those selfless words delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., before his death. “Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.” Our strongest desire is to do God’s will. Like Dr. King, God has allowed us to go to the mountain, we see the promised land, and we’re excited! God’s about to do great and marvelous things with this land and we continuously need your faithful support. Thank you for your persistent and faithful giving in helping us to meet our goals. We love and appreciate you so much!
In God’s love,
