Our guest speaker was William Drake joined by his wife Renata. William is retired from General Motors in Detroit, MI. A native of Huntsville, AL, William and Renata are enjoying retirement. They are servant leaders at the Trinity Seventh-Day Adventist Church where we fellowship with them.
William was raised by his parents in an Adventist Christian home. After graduation from high school, he chose the wrong crowd and his life spiraled down as he got involved with worldly pleasures.
Fast forward. During William’s shattered life, he always said, “If I could just get back to Church, I know I will be all right.”One day, a lady knocked on his door and invited him to take Bible lessons. Soon he began attending the Burns Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Detroit, MI and he gave his life to Christ.
In closing, William said, “ I have been living a Christian life for 35 years. Praise the Lord. I’m on the road to heaven and I will not turn back. I’m living the best life that God chose just for me. Today I enjoy my life. I have God in my life. I have a loving wife to support me. Five of my children are here with me in Huntsville and 2 are in Michigan. I have a good relationship with all of them. I want to live for Jesus and be a living witness for Him.
He encouraged the man not to give up on their dreams and journey, and to stay clean and sober. He shared Deuteronomy 5:32–33: “Be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right, or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper, and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. “
We were all inspired by William’s personal testimony.
