Tonight our guest speaker was Brian Edwards, our newest client. Brian lives here in Huntsville and was introduced to the program by his brother, Troy.
Brian is a humble quiet young man. However, tonight he surprised us all as he spoke with conviction of how the Holy Spirit had impressed him several times in his life.
One time, while working at Walmart, he helped a customer and she pulled him aside and said, “Young man, if you keep your head straight, you will go far.” He never forgot those words although he continued in his addiction.
Next, he attended the last night of a revival at his uncle’s church. Through the sermon, the Holy Spirit convicted his heart and he felt the power of God take away his desire to drink. Despite this miracle, the very next day, he chose to drink again. He knew God was disappointed to see him go back.
Another time, he attended his uncle’s church. The guest speaker’s sermon title was, “You Can’t Judge Others When You’re Doing the Same Thing.” At the end, as he shook the speaker’s hand, he asked, “Are you a preacher?” Brian replied, “No.” He added, “ You’ve been called to preach but not in the pulpit.“
Three months later, a female preacher, in the middle of her sermon, said, “Some people have been called to preach but not in the pulpit.”
Three years later, while working at his cousin’s house, a minister prophesied saying, “God told me that you will over overcome your addiction and have a complete turnaround in your life.”
Brian believes that coming to DAP is the first step to turning his life around. He believes that he will receive God’s healing and become a “preacher outside the pulpit.” Here at DAP, God will teach him how to have courage to minister to others. He said that he wants to help Jesus win souls for the kingdom.
After a few days in the program , he said to me, “My favorite part of the program is morning devotion.” Joy filled my heart and I knew he had an inner longing to know Jesus and he is winnable for the kingdom of God.
Testimonies like Brian’s let’s us know that every life is worth saving.
Isn’t Jesus wonderful!
