Our Guest Speaker tonight was our son, London Lee, joined by our daughter Nikisha. They are visiting us from Arkansas.
London’s message tonight was entitled “Forgiveness.” His key text was Matthew 6:12-13, The Lord’s Prayer……
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Forgiveness is a part of God’s kingdom. He will forgive us as we forgive others. The temptation is when we do not forgive others.
To forgive others for hurting us, we must dismiss it, don’t hold on to it, and let it go. The picture of Emil Castro holding the book is an illustration of unforgiveness. The longer you hold on to it, the heavier it gets and the more it weighs you down.
Reconciliation follows forgiveness.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 says, …if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! … All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation….God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (to others).
Forgiveness is a divine act. We forgive others because God has forgiven us.
What are you holding on to or what’s holding on to you? Dismiss it. Don’t hold on to it. Let it go.
What an inspiring message for our sons!!
