Our speaker tonight was James Roddy, a retired Oakwood University Educator of 52 years. In 1965, Mr. Roddy and his wife, Norma Jean, were invited to come to Oakwood. He developed the Physical Education Department and gave it a shape, form, face and person.
Mr. Roddy shared his favorite Bible verse with us:
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
He gave the men the following advice: Do not let the enemy deceive you with doubt. Refute him with God’s Word. He encouraged them to give God the first 15 minutes of their day by studying the Bible. This activity puts their lives in God’s Hands.
He ended his message by thanking the men for attending Sabbath School and Church each week at the Oakwood University Church. He admired their camaraderie and mannerism. His last words to them touched my heart, “You men have brought ‘beauty’ to Oakwood.”
God is so good and we give Him all the glory👏🏼🙏🏼.
