Tonight the guest speaker was yours truly. My message was entitled “My Heart-Christ’s Home”, from a little book by Robert Boyd Munger that I read years ago.
Christ Himself and the Holy Spirit will actually enter the heart, settle down and be at home there. Christ will live in any human heart that welcomes Him.
Christ was invited as a guest in Mr. Munger’s home. The first step in making the heart Christ’s home is to open wide the door and ask Him to come in and be your Savior and Lord (Revelation 3:20).
Christ was given access to each room in his home. He allowed Him to remove the distractions (e.g. books and magazines, self-centered wants, neglecting morning devotion, party life, adultery), and make each room what it ought to be. Finally, he signed over the title deed giving title to Him alone.
Mr. Munger said, “Lord, you have been my guest, and I have been trying to play the host. From now on you are going to be the owner and master of the house. I’m going to be the servant.”
There is no better way to live the Christian life. Christ knows how to keep it and use it. We are His and He is ours forever! May Christ settle down and be at home as Lord of your heart.
