In the Back of the ‘Bus’
Two years ago, we bought airline tickets to San Diego for our son, London’s, Installation Service as the new pastor of the Claremont Seventh-Day Adventist Church in San Diego. I purchased economy tickets which did not allow us to choose our seats. We were assigned seats 38 B & C. Cliff was upset that I purchased such tickets to put us ‘in the back of the bus.’
We met Jonathan and Christina Mendoza who sat across the isle from us. To make a along story short, Jonathan and family were returning to San Diego from visiting his sister in Houston. They started talking to each other and Cliff was impressed to invite Jonathan and his family to the Installation Service. He immediately said yes. Cliff asked him why he wanted to come. He replied, “I need Jesus in my life.” Jonathan and his family and Christina’s sister was there for the service. They have been coming since that time.
London and the church family have embraced them as a family. London has given them marriage counseling and Bible studies and they have been active in several ministries of the church. Their son, Bentley, attended the International Pathfinder Camporee in Gillette, WY this year. Jonathan and Christina was officially married last month and they were baptized by London last Sabbath. Our hearts are overflowing with unspeakable joy 🤩 🥲!
Moral of our story: Never complain about your seating on a plane. God’s plans are not always yours. Two people accepted Jesus wholeheartedly into their lives and they are the happiest people in the world.
