Dear Family Member:
As 2019 draws to a close, we find ourselves filled with deep gratitude for the gift of Jesus Christ to this earth. His saving power in all our lives gives us courage each day and hope for the future. This is why we find the words of the Christmas hymn above so very moving: “O Come Let Us Adore Him”. It is a natural response to adore Jesus because of what He has done for each one of us.
The clients here at DAP were able to put into words what it means to adore the child of Bethlehem for they have experienced personally not only the gift of salvation but also release from the clutches of drug addiction. Here are some of the beautiful expressions of joy from the young men here at DAP this year:
I come to adore the King of my life this Christmas. Since being at Drug Alternative Program, I have learned to love myself. During my whole adult life, I was always drinking alcohol and using drugs. I never took the time to actually know myself as an adult. When I first entered DAP, I lacked self-confidence, doubted my decisions, and was afraid to make mistakes. DAP has taught me that making mistakes is a part of my growth. This program has given me confidence to make decisions and taught me how to love myself. One day I want to help others learn to love themselves as well. I thank God for the new life I have now.
I come to adore the King of my life this Christmas. Drug Alternative Program has done more than just make a difference in my life. It has saved my life. I was homeless and hopeless, living off scraps and amphetamines. My family had all but given up on me, and the few people in my life, I did not trust at all. I was always looking over my shoulders and stress was a constant feeling. DAP has given me my life back. I recognize myself again. Thanks to DAP, I am proud of myself. I thank God for the new life I have now.
I come to adore the King of my life this Christmas. When I found Drug Alternative Program on November 11, 2019, I was at my worst. I could not see past the next hour of my life. I had nowhere to go and my family did not want me around. I was literally on borrowed time and I had very little of it left. I was at my parents’ home looking for a rehabilitation program. I needed a long-term program but my insurance would only cover a short- term program. I had nowhere to go. Suddenly the phone rang! It was Mr. Harris. Could this be true! I spoke with Mr. Harris who informed me that he had one bed left. I told him I was on my way. Mr. & Mrs. Harris opened their doors to me and the timing could not have been better. Thanks to God and the Harris’s, I am able to start a new life here in Huntsville, AL.
We are certain that this Christmas you have something in your life to adore Jesus for. We are certain He has given you and your family new life and new hope this year as well. As you come to adore the child in the manger, we pray that your heart will overflow and that you will give a gift in gratitude for all that Jesus has done for you.
Each year DAP relies on the generous year-end gifts in order to make certain we end the year with all bills paid so that in the new year, we are able to begin with a fresh start. If you are able to help us this Christmas, we will be so very grateful. We are planning on a total amount of $50,000 which is the amount we received last year. Please respond in the way God has blessed you and we thank you with all our hearts.
With love and thanks,
P. S. This Christmas, the finest words we know cannot begin to express our love and gratitude to you for your prayers and financial support for the past 32 years. Without you, there would be no DAP. We’re sending you a BIG hug!
