Dear Family Member:
As you know, we’ve been eagerly expecting the final permits from the city to break ground on the storage units at the Meridian Avenue site. We’re now waiting for the grading permit, and with all the paperwork submitted, we’re waiting for the city’s approval. While handling the complications of a building project can be challenging, we’re making steady progress. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we push forward, staying focused on bringing this project to life.
We have some extraordinary news to share! Parents of one of our former clients have generously donated $10,000 to support our land project, made possible by the sale of some of their assets. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and would love to express our heartfelt thanks in person. We’re investing $2.5 million in storage units, which will generate income and move our project forward. This generous donation has been a significant boost, demonstrating the parents’ trust in our vision. With faith as our foundation, we’re confident that God will provide the necessary resources to complete all three phases: storage units, a community center, recovery home/transition home, transforming countless lives.
With 38 years of experience behind us, our faith has grown stronger. A remarkable example of this is how we were able to purchase four single-family homes in a two-block area in Grand Terrace, CA, including our own home, two recovery homes, and a transition home, all debt-free. As a nonprofit, we faced the challenge of not being able to secure loans using these properties as collateral. However, God’s plan prevailed, and we now see that His guidance was instrumental in our success.
We embarked on a new chapter in Alabama, ready to retire, but God called us to a higher purpose. He had other plans – to relocate DAP to Alabama. ‘At our age!’ we exclaimed, with Cliff at 85 and me at 80. Yet, God reminded us of Abraham and Sarah, who went against age and circumstance. We recalled our lifelong commitment to this work and stepped forward in faith. We’ve since sold our four homes in California, purchased a recovery home with 3 1/2 acres, and acquired 10 additional acres for the Land project, embracing this new season with purpose and passion.
We invite you to prayerfully reflect on how the Holy Spirit is guiding you to contribute to the transformation of these 10 acres. Our own experience has shown us the power of trusting in God’s provision, and we’re grateful for your willingness to join us in making a meaningful investment in this vision. Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey!
As we join hands together, God’s generosity inspires us to give freely, fostering a spirit of abundance and kindness that transforms lives, as exemplified by these men at DAP.
