At Drug Alternative Program (DAP), we have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of addiction. We have seen men arrive broken, exhausted, abandoned by family, stripped of dignity, and convinced their lives no longer matter. Yet by the grace of God, we have also witnessed something powerful: restoration. We have seen men once trapped by drugs and hopelessness become fathers again, employees again, church members again, and most importantly, spiritually alive again. That is why we continue this mission.
DAP has always stood on the belief that no man is ever too far gone for God’s mercy. Addiction may knock a man down, but through Christ, he is never truly out. Every bed we provide, every meal served, every Bible study taught, every counseling session offered, and every life restored is proof that God still changes lives.
We are stepping forward in faith toward an exciting and necessary expansion that we believe will strengthen this ministry for years to come. As many of you know, DAP has been pursuing development plans that include the addition of a storage facility on our property. This project is much more than a business venture. It is a long-term sustainability effort designed to generate ongoing income that will directly support the treatment and recovery of the men who enter our program.

This expansion represents opportunity an opportunity to increase financial stability for the ministry and to reduce dependence on uncertain funding sources. In addition, it gives us an opportunity to provide greater care for struggling men and build a stronger future for recovery ministry within our community. Most importantly, this project is about creating a foundation that allows DAP to continue offering hope to men battling addiction without turning people away due to lack of resources.
Like many worthwhile endeavors, this journey has not come without challenges. In April of this year, the Civil Engineering Division for the City of Huntsville returned our application for construction approval due to missing plans and required land surveys. While this was discouraging news, we refused to view it as defeat. Setbacks are not the same as failure. In fact, we believe moments like this test whether we will walk by faith or surrender to frustration.
Shortly afterward, in early May, the architectural team hired by DAP informed us that they are fully capable of providing all the necessary engineering plans, site surveys, and documentation required by the city to move the project forward toward approval. However, the total cost for completing these critical requirements is $47,250. For a ministry like ours, this is a significant financial hurdle. Yet we believe this is also a God-sized opportunity for the Christian community to step forward and help build something that will impact lives for generations.
In spite of the setbacks and difficulties, we are experiencing in building these storage units, the first phase of the DAP Land Master Plan, we remain steadfast in our trust that God is sovereign. We are devoting more time to prayer, fasting, and the study of Scripture. Our humble request is, “Search us, O God, and know our hearts: try us and know our thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting.” Psalm139:23-24 We do not wish to hinder the realization of God’s plans for this momentous expansion of DAP.
We humbly request your prayers for the removal of obstacles and God’s provision of resources to facilitate this monumental development, guiding precious souls into His kingdom “in such a time as this.” At our age, we feel inadequate yet honored to lead this Master Plan for God. Once completed, we plan to “pass the torch” to the couple chosen by God, while we bask in the “fruits of our labor” during our golden years.
Every dollar invested into DAP is truly an investment into human lives. Addiction continues to destroy families throughout our nation. Men battling substance abuse often carry deep wounds—spiritual, emotional, financial, and relational. Many
arrive at our doors feeling forgotten by society and beyond hope. But Jesus specializes in restoration.
At DAP, recovery is not just about sobriety. It is about transformation. It is about helping men discover purpose, responsibility, accountability, and faith in Christ. It is about showing them they still have value in the eyes of God. The planned storage facility is intended to become a practical tool that helps fund this mission consistently into the future. Rather than simply surviving month-to-month, this project could help establish a stable source of income that allows DAP to continue ministering effectively regardless of economic uncertainty.
In many ways, this effort mirrors the biblical principle of stewardship. We are seeking not only to meet immediate needs but also to wisely build for the future so that more men can receive help in the years ahead.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus declared that He came “to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” We believe addiction is one of the great prisons of our time, but we also believe Christ still sets captives free.
The men who come to DAP are not statistics. They are sons. They are fathers. They are husbands.
They are souls loved by God. And while many may be down, none are beyond the reach of God’s grace. Thank you for standing with Drug Alternative Program. Thank you for believing in restoration. Thank you for helping us continue the mission of hope, healing, and transformation. Together, by God’s grace, we move forward.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
Satan may knock us down but not out!
