Dear Family Member:
Last month, several activities took place at DAP and we want to let you have a look inside of our daily ministry:
Our guest speaker at the Recovery Home for Sabbath Vespers was our niece from Chicago, Rosalyn Johnson. She gave her personal testimony of how she was able to break down the walls of shame and rejection from childhood. She encouraged the clients to take advantage of doing the same through mental, physical and spiritual activities at DAP.
The journey is not easy, but it pays off in huge dividends – a transformed life. The clients were inspired and encouraged by Rosalyn’s timely message.
Dr. Standley Gellineau was also a guest speaker for Sabbath Vespers. Cliff asked him to speak on the subject, “Forgiveness.” He shared several examples of forgiveness in the Bible. e.g. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9. However, the greatest example Stan shared was his personal testimony. The men were inspired, encouraged and filled with hope.
The clients read then their weekly assignment on Forgiveness. We were captivated by their stories and felt “heart work” from each man. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, spiritual healing was sensed among
the group.
It was Senior Adult Ministries Day at Oakwood University Church, honoring Nonagenarians (90-99) and Centenarians (100+). To our surprise, Dr. Jessie Bradley called our names and asked us to come to the podium. She presented us with a beautiful plaque in recognition of our service rendered to the Huntsville community. What a pleasant surprise which strengthened our hearts and put a smile on our faces.
Client Emil Castro’s sister, Vanessa, came from Denver to visit him in Alabama. In July, his 13-year-old son was killed riding in a 4-wheel dirt bike with his uncle while attending his Mom’s family reunion in Utah. Vanessa was here to comfort and spend quality time with her brother which was very therapeutic for him.
On Sabbath, we all attended Sabbath School and the Worship Service. We were inspired by the Sabbath School lesson and the preached word by our pastor, Dr. Carlton P. Byrd. After Church, we sat down to a beautifully decked dining table prepared by the clients. The food was delicious but the fellowship was better!
We have been told to “Ask, and it shall be given to you.” Today we are asking you to help us as we reach out to the clients who rely on us to assist them as they choose to walk on God’s pathway of hope and courage. We thank you for helping DAP clients to walk down God’s pathway to victory.
As you plan on your gift, we encourage you to send a gift as large as possible. Whatever it is, $100 or $500, please know that any amount, large or small, will be blessed by God. And we thank you in advance.
P.S. We have received $46,000 for the tractor –we only need $10,000 more to pay it off in full! Thank you for your sacrifice.
In His service,
